About me

Well hello there, I’m Pia and I’m excited to have you here.

Being all touristy in Italy

Who I am

I went on my first trip abroad at the age of six to the “far and exotic” city of Stockholm in Finland’s neighboring country Sweden. This ignited an everlasting passion in my heart for traveling. Nowadays, some forty years after that first trip, I’m lucky enough to have the means to make several trips every year. I’m a native Finn living in the capital region of Finland and working for the government – sounds boring, I know.

Me on the right at age 9 in what was then known as Leningrad with my brother, grandma and a family friend.

Why a travel blog

This blog is my way to share my adventures, as well as what I’ve learned while traveling, with other travelers and wannabe travelers. Whether you are looking for stories about places near and far, travel tips, restaurant reviews or hotel recommendations, you’ve come to the right place. You will find a lot of pictures on this blog as photographing has been a hobby of mine since I was able to hold a camera. This may have something to do with the fact that my dad is a photographer by trade.

My photographing skills weren’t that great when I first started out

A little more about me

I share my adventures with my partner in crime and hubby of over 20 years. Luckily, he loves travel as much as I do, and we have similar tastes and interests. When we are not out galivanting, we share our home with three cats. Apart from travel and photographing I also love good food; I’m a self-proclaimed foodie. Other things I enjoy include movies, books, weightlifting, profound discussions and hanging out with friends.

What not to expect

This blog will not feature any tips on traveling with kids and the destinations may not always be kid friendly. As I find a little luxury will brighten up any day, the blog will not feature backpacking, camping or hostels. I’m also a city girl through and through, so only daytrips into “the wild” will be shared.
